Shopping List: Journeys Boots

After taking my mother-in-law to the airport -she came down to visit us for a couple of days-I decided to stop at one of the local shopping malls.

I love boots and I'm always on the lookout for the next great pair! I happened to walk by Journeys and spotted these beauties.

I love shoes with high heels, but after having been in a car accident this year I've had to hang up any type of high heels for the time being. So, any one of these pairs would be perfect for me!

Gray shoes and accessories are the must have neutral for this upcoming season plus I love the cute detailing on both boots.

The black boots although simple, in my opinion, never go out of style and would go well with many outfits -skinnies, bootlegs, skirts, dresses.

I'm more than 95% sure that I will get one of these boots, but I'm just not sure which. Help me out! :-)

Which of the 3 do you like best and why?

Savour Restaurant

My mother-in-law is visiting from out of town and she is a total foodie. although, now that I think of it so are my husband and I. Whenever we get a chance we like to try out new restaurants and recipes at home.

Yesterday evening we went to Savour Restaurant . The food was exquisite ranging from appetizers, entrees and dessert. The prices were extremely reasonable for a fancy sit down restaurant. We each got a 3 course dinner (appetizer or salad, entree and dessert) for $30 per person. I already told my husband that I'd like to go back for my birthday.

{yummy warm loaf of bread baked right at the restaurant, I think}

{spicy chorizo corn cakes with sour cream and a red bean puree}

{Scallops baked with mashed potatoes, lobster cream and parmesan}

{Crab & Shrimp Salad with papaya, avocado, tomato, red onion, cilantro olive oil}

{pork chop stuffed with buttermilk, cornbread, cranberries and brandied apples}

{Special of the day : Ahi Tuna}

{Melange: Lamb chops, quail stuffed with minted couscous and orange glace}

{Cup O' Silk: whipped chocolate with truffle in a wafer cookie cup}

{Apple Gallete: a warm rustic tart with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream}

Lipo in a Box: I won!

I have participated in a handful of blog giveaways, but I usually think I'll never win anything. This time around I was so wrong because I was the lucky winner of a $50.00 certificate giveaway sponsored by Lipo in a Box hosted by the lovely Elaine of clothedmuch.com. You can checkout Elaine's review of some Lipo in a box and other related items here.

As soon as the company rep got in touch with me and I replied with the product I wanted it took a total of 2 days to receive my package.

My congratulatory letter!

The package came with a product catalogue and two bookmarks with information on the company behind Lipo in a Box.

My selected came came in this cute little mesh bag.

My selected prize: High Waisted Brief with Legs.

This was the perfect giveaway for me to have won! Ever since having had my baby boy I have been working on getting back to my pre-pregnancy size and it's taking longer than I'd like. In the meantime, shape-wear is the perfect solution to smooth out any unwanted bumps so you'll look flawless in your clothes.

I want to use the brief for a while with different types of clothing before I give a full review of the product.

These boots would look great with everything-boot cut jeans, jeggings, skinnies, dresses, skirts, military inspired jackets, etc.

Skincare: Sea Algae Enzyme Facial Scrub

Sea Algae Enzyme Facial Scrub

This product was originally meant for my husband, but my curiosity for all things beauty related took me to try out this product along with my husband.

The Verdict:

*This scrub feels gentle when it comes into contact with your skin unlike others that are very abrasive.

*As soon as you start smoothing the product over your face, neck and ears you can immediately feel your pores opening up and your skin feeling more invigorated.

*After using the product for a short time I noticed that my complexion looked brighter and healthier.

This scrub was purchased in Rite Aid, but if your interested in knowing more about the complete line you can check out the following site: http://www.albabotanica.com/

I would definitely repurchase this product and try out some of their other products!

Even Better Corn Muffins

As I had already mentioned in a previous post, I'm new to baking and am loving it. I went grocery shopping yesterday and picked up several muffin, bread, and brownie mixes. I've been experimenting with boxed muffin mixes and my last food post was about cornbread muffins.

Since my husband liked the cornbread muffins so much I decided to prepare them again, but this time around I added fresh blueberries to the mix. They turned out to be even better than the first time because the blueberries mostly tended to "explode" while baking so when you bite into the warm muffin you can taste the gooey fruitiness.

Gotta love Marshalls

In times past, I have not been a fan of Marshall's. The idea of having to scour through racks of clothes to ultimately end up finding nothing was always disappointing. But, times have changed! Since moving to the continental U.S.A. a mere six weeks ago, I have fallen in love with Marshalls. I find myself going every week to see what new items have been brought to the store. I find that the particular Marshall's I go to tends to bring in so many beautiful, seasonal pieces that simply scream to me. Above is a pic of just one of my recent finds this last Sunday.

Wannabe Baker

Two weeks ago I decided that I wanted to start using the oven more. So, what better way to make use of the oven than baking! Since I'm new to the whole baking thing I thought it would be a good idea to start out simple. Eventually, I would like to bake things from scratch.

Summer Salad

Vacation time is over and we are settled into what will be our home for the next two years. Now, it's time to get back in the kitchen and start preparing meals three times a day.

I love vegetables and fruit so why not combine them in a wholesome salad! I basically took every vegetable and fruit that I had in the fridge and started chopping and measuring away.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of romaine lettuce
1/4 cup each of the following(diced or chopped):
red onions
radishes
button top mushrooms
green peppers
cherry tomatoes
mozzarella cheese
apples
strawberries
1 chicken tenderloin (broiled)

DRESSING:
3 Tbs of pomegranate vinegar
1 Tbs of EVOO
sea salt (to your taste)
1 Tbs of honey
1 Tbs fruit preserve (of your choice)
garlic powder

Combine all of the ingredients (except salt and garlic powder) in a small bowl and whisk. Taste and add salt and garlic to your liking

PROCEDURE:

1. Arrange the spinach and lettuce on a big plate.
2. Arrange the mushrooms (or any other vegetable of your choice) on the center of the greens.
3. Arrange the rest of the vegetables, the cheese and chicken around the mushrooms.
4. Garnish with dry parsley.
5. Drizzle dressing at will.
